On December 14, WuxiCham and the Wuxi Government Foreign Investment Enterprise Association came together to welcome the 2017 Christmas festivities at the upscale Gloria Grand Hotel. More than 150 people were in attendance, including the Korean, Taiwanese, and Japanese Chamber of Commerce, making it this year’s largest gathering of the foreign business community in Wuxi.
The event was sponsored by the Wuxi government’s Municipal Bureau of Commerce, the Municipal Foreign Investment Enterprise Service Center and the Foreign Investment Enterprise Association. Among the evening’s honoured guests were Mr. Wang Jinjian, Deputy Mayor of Wuxi, and Mr. Jiang Bo, Deputy Director of the Wuxi Bureau of Commerce. In his speech, Deputy Mayor Wang expressed warm greetings to all the foreign guests living and working in Wuxi. He also introduced policy developments and preferential measures for promoting the development of an open economy in Wuxi.
During the event, each chamber brought varied and colorful programs to showcase their talent. The Korean Chamber of Commerce performed Jazz versions of ‘Besame Mucho’ and ‘Feliz Navidad’ on the saxophone, the Japanese club performed charming guitar pieces, and the Taiwanese Chamber performed a group rendition of a well-known Taiwanese song “爱拼才会赢” (loosely translated to “Perseverance Will Win the Day”).
In the end, WuxiCham’s two performances of a latin dance and live piano concert of “White Christmas” won the applause of the evening. The event concluded with everyone making rounds around the room to exchange business cards and enjoy the evening wine.
WuxiCham will be taking a break for the Christmas Holiday and New Years holidays. We will be back with an update on our next exciting event in January.
